He is talking about the Medieval Warm period. What he neglects to say, probably because he doesn't really know, is that there is no evidence that it extended much beyond Europe. Greenland was probably about how it is now when the Viking settled there. The colonies died out during the Little Ice Age because it became impossible to grow food.

But you are dealing with a vast and unknowing ignorance. To the point that you start to conclude he is just faking it.
