Of course it was. It would have been a very poor joke even if he hadn't "botched" it. And the way he handled the aftermath, getting all angry and blaming everyone except himself (he's got a history of doing that), took his exceedingly small chances of resurrecting a Presidential campaign all the way down to nil.

And if Kerry got into a public debate with them that it could have hurt Dems. That's why John cancelled apperances (sic),

Wrong again. At least you're consistent in that regard. Kerry cancelled appearances because all the leading Dems told him to get lost and STFU. They, and everyone else across the spectrum except for you, know that he's a loser and is done politically on a national level. Time for you to grow up and accept that reality..
