I found out what hapened to Commodore (accidentally). Read this response to a letter I had sent to VIScorp,

Commodore and all intellectual property was purchased by Escom Ag, a German
company, several years ago. VIScorp is subsequently buying specific Amiga
intellectual property and rights from Escom, which has also filed for
bankruptcy. There has been nothing announced in the VIScorp agreement that
would indicate that former Commodore shareholders will receive anything, and
the prospect is highly unlikely.
