Because of the rules of the game, I go into it assuming that all pinkies are scams, and this insulates me from going crazy when I see some huge run. It's just an internal discipline rule that I've set up.

By rules of the game, I mean that the SEC has not done what I believe it should and require all trading companies to file either AF's or unaudited under pains and penalties of perjury. Also the virtual unlimited ability of management to issue shares that find their way into the float, and naked shorting and MM games, make "assuming all scams" really good advice.

So, what I really am saying is that I am a realist. If the company is not scamming, someone may be scamming the company, or the CEO may be honest and fall for the promotional trap of giving away tons of shares to an IR department or the MM's may be playing games and even grabbing some shares they are not supposed to take or naked shorting or hedge funds may target a stock that has some liquidity and volatility. So, assume there is an environment of scam potential around each pinky is more my philosophy.

As I get more into a company and my own DD, I tend to moderate my own feelings and either increase or decrease my own holdings accordingly. I also anticipate that there will be professional bashers that will either "discover" bad stuff or make it up LOL. Every board has them and they still say "no such thing!"

So, by staying on edge and anticipating this environment, it's easier to make decisions without the daily emotional "what's hot" or "scam of the day" posts.
