I am continually awed by the fact that people really seem to think they have a right to be very nasty, very personal, AND have a "right" to continued access to others on SI. Does this work for people in 3d? I can't imagine it does. When you call people names, when you fight with people, when you are nasty, people WILL avoid you. They will not call you on the phone, and they won't pick up the phone when you call. They will change to the other side of the street when they see you, or hide behind their menu in a restaurant. Of course most people aren't nasty and personal and aggressive in 3d, so we don't see this much, but I think most of us have seen it happen to at least one person in our lifetime. What I don't understand is why there seem to be so many people on the internet who don't get this. Either all the people who can't make it in 3d have come to the internet to call people names and fight, or people forget their manners when they log on to the computer.

Either way it can make unmoderated threads very very very unpleasant. There is not much worse than a grown man or woman acting like a 10 year old.
