My father in law has a very long term warm relationship with a small town dealer in Ohio. I just got a call from them and talked to the service manager. He said the price quote that I got from the transmission shop where my car is was on target. The differential going dry is a bit unusual, and I find that hard to explain because I know the service history of the car.

I think I'll go ahead with the repairs. If I were to buy a comparable car new the sales tax alone would be more than the repairs, and even a rice burner would have monthly payments and a hefty sales tax.

I see a lot of 1994 New Yorkers around, even some the same color as ours. They look like nice cars and they're 12 years old already.
