Fascinating moment. An original one for me. The Baker-Hamilton report basically says the present policy is wrongheaded in every way you can imagine and if the policy is not changed, and changed dramatically, in the very near term, much worse follows. That's said to the administration. And said on the basis of a very bipartisan, oddly powerful committee.

At the same time, the administration's appointee to run the Defense Dept, presumably the department that carries out at least the military aspects of the occupation. But under Rumsfeld confiscated it all. We have that appointee saying the policy is wrong.

And the president has not said so.

Very strange moment. Classical Chinese, living in interesting times moment.
