I can only surmise that she has some sort of personal agenda?

I don't have any agenda other than to increase understanding. If there is some category a subset of which is at issue, then it is useful to identify that subset and give it a label so it can be recognized and discussed separate from the rest of the set, which is not at issue.

Think of it this way. If you're allergic to peanuts, it's not helpful to say you're allergic to vegetables and have your hostess try to figure out how to serve you a vegetable-free meal when the problem is only a subset of vegetables, namely peanuts.

If the label is annoying, I can use DMA's "antidisestablishmentarianism," although it's a bitch to type.
