I did not vote for Bush because he didn't convince me of his leadership strengths. I always thought he and his father (whom I also didn't vote for) are decent and honorable guys. For that reason I have supported his administration in general.

I have been disappointed by the lack of strong leadership around the crisis at our southern border and comments comming from the administration that seem soft on torture. FEMA seems to have been poorly conceived, managed or both.

We all complained that we wanted to have success criteria for operations in Iraq defined after the initial defeat of Saddam's Regime but that became like pulling nails ... and I still don't know why but this left the popular media to pretty much tell a one sided anti-Bush tale of what was going on.

His greatest weakness seems to have been his lack of ability to engender confidence in the American people to back his administrative operations. I suspect that is embedded in his general poor ability to communicate effectively in public or lack of personal charisma, which may be one and the same.

Early on his administration was criticized for lack of transparency; that evolved to a criticism of excessive secrecy. It was also criticised for having a less than forthright commitment to a select neocon segment and extreme right wing religionists. That has never been owned by him, so I still don't know how valid it is.

He has two years left to build on his comment, 'message recieved'. That seems like a comment intended to bring about a positive change of venue. I will be interested to see what good he can do along those lines.
