But as a rule there are far more good shops then bad. Back in the 70's I was a mechanic and our local news show decided to do an expose on shoddy and fraudulent repairs like they had done up in Minneapolis. I actually was involved with 2 of their stops. Every shop they stopped at found the correct problem and fixed it for little money and in a couple of cases free. I was one of the free guys that realized the vacuum modulator on the transmission wasn't working right which causes it not shift making you think the transmission is junk. They had put a plugged vacuum hose on and I blew out the obstruction and put it back on and sent them on their way. Boss was pretty happy when that segment hit the news:)
