Those were good teachers, weren't they? Chemistry was the hatchet course for Freshmen majors in scientific fields. It was so tough they had to grade on the curve to get anybody to pass and the mean was less than 50%. I sneaked in with just a C and lucky to get it, but I still remember some of the basic principles, valences, and so forth.
