Rutter Delivering 19 Ice Navigation Systems to BP Shipping
ST. JOHN'S, Dec. 5 /CNW/ - Rutter Inc. (TSX: RUT) - Rutter Inc. is pleased to announce that its subsidiary, Rutter Technologies is delivering nineteen sigma S6 Ice Navigator systems to UK based BP Shipping Ltd. during December 2006.
Rutter's sigma S6 Ice Navigator provides greatly enhanced radar imaging of sea ice conditions in the vicinity of a vessel, significantly improving the ability to navigate efficiently and safely through icy waters, day or night, irrespective of weather conditions. This additional level of detail enables the ship to identify and subsequently maneuver around difficult areas, saving both time and fuel while minimizing the potential for ice damage.
"BP Shipping is well respected in the industry for its progressive approach to both safety and environmental sensitivity," said Byron Dawe, President of Rutter Technologies, Products Division. "We are extremely pleased that such a prestigious organization has taken the time to evaluate the safety and economic implications of the Ice Navigator and chosen our technology for its fleet of ice class vessels. This is an important and timely vote of confidence as more and more fleets are operating in the north for both shipping and resource development."
Mr. Robert Ball, Electrical Superintendent, Fleet Technical Management Team at BP Shipping noted, "Our Company has a responsibility to the environment, its personnel, and its customers and we continually keep an eye out for new technology to assist us in addressing these areas of responsibility. We installed a trial version of the sigma S6 Ice Navigator onboard the British Environment last winter to evaluate the performance of the system in actual operating conditions. As we were very pleased with the performance and overall value it provided, we made the decision to fit it on our entire ice going fleet." |
