There is a lot of equality in the ME, but not a lot of freedom.

I agree with the 2nd part but not the first. The ME isn't a place with a lot of equality. It doesn't matter if you are talking about equality of wealth or income or power or social status, or equality between the sexes, or between different religions. By just about any measure the Middle East is not exactly a paragon of equality.
