The country may not be ready for a woman, Hispanic or black president, no matter how cool and solid the candidate is. That also goes for short, bald, moustached, gay or cigarette smoking candidates. I know it sounds ridiculous, but 2000 came down to 527 votes and 2004 to whitebread precincts in Ohio.

I wish this weren't true but common sense says the GOP should be the first to run a minority or a woman, not Dems. Last time the Dems ran a woman (Ferraro) they got creamed. And look what happened to Harold Ford, and how the GOP far right is demonizing Hispanics. And Richardson just came out against the border wall.

I like Richardson a lot too, but he's a VP candidate, no more.
If Harold Ford had won despite the racist ad I might feel different.
