Richardson has foreign policy/diplomatic credentials that are unmatched. He does not have Clinton's name recognition but nor does he have her baggage. He is clearly capable and I think he could very possibly emerge as a front runner. He presents himself extremely well in public and is unlikely to pull a Howard Dean and scream like a madman (poor Howard got carried away that time). The Republicans will have trouble finding the right candidate to oppose Richardson -- McCain might look too much like a loose cannon, and neither he nor Hagel are firmly embraced by their own party. Beyond those two you start to wonder who they might try to sell that is not too badly damaged by the Iraq issue.

If the Dems wake up and realize that Richardson is their best hope to win the Presidency then he might become a shoo in -- with an open question as to the VP he would choose.
