True, Intel ran face-first into the wall of heat and power with Prescott. So what does AMD do? The exact same thing with 4x4, er, QuadFather, er, Quad FX.
True, but it QuadFX is not really a strategic plan, just a tactical reaction.
Then why did AMD lose money during the "Bush recession" while Intel continued to make money?
First, there was not any Bush recession. There was a dot com recession in I believe 2 out of the first 3 quarters of Bush being in office.
Second, the tech recession was deeper than general economic recession.
Third, there was a pause, when Intel did temporarily regain performance lead, and that period coincided with the hight of Intel's anticompetitive practices. Those practices not only hurt AMD, they shielded Intel from competition.
