You don't see the grand alliance of World War II...with FDR and Churchill on top, and Eisenhower as Supreme Allied Commander holding Churchill in check while parceling out authority and glory to the Brits, Monty, Patton, and the rest of the generals.....everyone having to be kept happy and cooperating...as a committee? Believe me, Ike didn't operate by fiat. He was balancing and compromising and trading and cajoling all the time. Name me a victorious war where there was no cooperation between allies, no give and take in use of resource, no adjustment in tactics along with way to reflect new realities.
