Roebear: Silver appears to want to break $5, but will probably dip below that benchmark, once again, before a farther, sustainable advance moves it to levels firmly above $5 for the duration. Long-term, the evidence we've begun a sea-change in precious metals accumulates each day. I do expect silver, gold, and the precious-metal group, to outperform most other asset classes for the next couple of years.
Along that line, I took note of the previous El Nino episodes in recent history. I discovered that in each of these events: 1957-58, '67-'68, '72-'73, '82-'83, and, probably now, a sharp sell-off in the stock market occurred sometime over its course. It is a unique association, one, like many others, that lead me to believe we are witnessing a fundamental shift in markets. In conjunction with the the length of the current bull-market for financials, I suspect this El Nino has implications beyond the ordinary and will mark the turn in market behavior for financials, as well as commodities, in general.
