Six Chinese children killed by carbon monoxide
08/12/2006 - 07:45:59

Six Chinese children aged six to 10 have died of carbon monoxide poisoning after fumes from a generator seeped into their bedroom at a boarding school.

Earlier reports on the deaths in the northern village of Nanyao in Shanxi province said police initially suspected possible food poisoning because the students were violently ill.

But investigators concluded they died of carbon monoxide poisoning after laboratory tests, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing Kang Xingyou, the province’s deputy police chief.
