I think I'm now pretty safe barring calder coming up with a second anormed or one of my big picks doing a pml. So I'm going to risk changing the charity I picked for the 06 contest. Here's the charity I'm picking:
www.casparinc.org which stands for cambridge and somerville alchoholism and drug abuse rehabilitation and earmarking it specifically for womanplace, so make sure to note when sending: womanplace-casparinc:
If by mail:
WomanPlace Carol Nickerson, Program Director 11 Russell Street Cambridge, MA 02140
<<Womanplace is a 20 bed residential program for women in need of six months of gender-specific residential treatment in a safe and nurturing environment.
Womanplace residents have access to twenty-four hour care, as they learn to live clean and sober. Many women entering treatment have serious trauma histories and related mental health issues in addition to their substance abuse.
At Womanplace, residents have the opportunity to reconcile their past experiences in a safe supportive environment, where they learn the basics about ongoing recovery and experience recovery first-hand.
Residents have access to an array of social, medical, and mental health services in the community, and have structured individual, group and family counseling on-site.
Womanplace residents have the opportunity to learn from one another, to establish community-based recovery supports which will sustain them after graduation, and to practice their relapse prevention strategies as they prepare for the next phase in their recovery journey.>>>

I wanted to do something small and local where the money would make a difference and be appreciated. Couldn't have gone more local, we live right next door :-) The ladies are great neighbors and seem to do well there. Thanks a lot to anyone who contributes. Was fun to wrest a win from Rick, even if he let someone else win this year with his cut and paste 05 :-) |
