The GOP is whistling Dixie. All they have left. That and the oil patch plus a few sparsely populated conservative plains and mountain states. And Wyoming and Alaska are now oil states too.

When the GOP loses seats in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Montana and Arizona you know they're being greatly diminished.

If they don't nominate a moderate ticket in 2008, they're goners. Any democrat can beat them. But of course they might. if you consider McCain a moderate. He is only on some issues like the environment.
