The street pundits weigh with another 8% gain on the S&P in '07 ...

Stocks poised to gain ground next year, nine Wall Street strategists say-Barron's

If the year were to end today, the S&P 500 Index would be up 12.7% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average would be up 14.6% for the year.

Collectively the Street sees an 8% gain in the indexes next year, which would put the S&P at around 1520. Goldman Sachs' (GS) chief investment strategist, Abby Joseph Cohen believes the S&P 500 will rise 10% next year to 1550 and UBS's chief strategist for its wealth-management group, Michael Ryan, sees the S&P at 1500 as he believes that "the market is fairly valued."

Binky Chadha of Deutsche Bank (DB), has a 1540 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 9% for the index. His favorite sectors are Energy, Materials and Consumer Staples; his least favorite sectors are Consumer Discretionary and Financials.

Abhijit Chakrabortti of JP Morgan (JPM) has a 1440 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of only 3%. His favorite sectors are Telecom Services and Consumer Staples; his least favorite sectors are Consumer Discretionary and Idustrials.

Abby Joseph Cohen of Goldman Sachs has a 1550 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 6%. Her favorite sectors are Industrial Conglomerates, Technology and Consumer Services; her least favorite sector is Defensive stocks.

Ed Keon of Prudential (PRU) has a 1600 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 9%. His favorite sectors are Financials (especially Capital Markets) and Telecom; his least favorite sectors are Consumer Staples and Utilities.

Tobias Levkovich of Citigroup (C) has a 1500 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 7%. His favorite sectors are Media, Semis, Retail and Tech Hardware; his least favorite sectors are Real Estate, Utilities and Household Products.

Tom McManus of Bank of America (BAC) has a 1465 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 5%. His favorite sectors are Health Care and Consumer Staples; his least favorite sectors are Consumer Discretionary and Technology.

Henry McVey of Morgan Stanley (MS) has a 1525 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 5%. His favorite sectors are Brokers, Energy and Software; his least favorite are Health Care and Retail.

Michael Ryan of UBS (UBS) has a 1500 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 3%-5%. His favorite sectors are Consumer Staples, Financials and Health Care; his least favorite are Consumer Discretionary, Materials and Technology.

Francois Trahan of Bear Stearns (BS) has a 1550 target on the S&P 500 and sees 2007 EPS growth of 4%. His favorite sectors are Technology and Consumer Discretionary; his least favorite sectors are Consumer Staples and Energy
