WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Applix, Inc. (Nasdaq: APLX), an innovator and global leader in performance management, has been positioned by Gartner, a leading analyst firm in the area of corporate performance management (CPM) suites, in the visionaries quadrant of their annual Magic Quadrant report.

"Over the last few years Applix has concentrated on refining and building out more functionality into TM1(TM) and our overall performance management product line," said David Mahoney, president and CEO, Applix. "This year our focus has been on accelerated growth by increasing the power of our 64-bit, in-memory analytics platform and providing self-service visualization and dashboards, helping customers to broaden performance management applications beyond traditional financial deployments into areas such as sales, marketing, and customer support. We believe Gartner's Magic Quadrant for 2006 confirms our strategy and reflects the progress we have made delivering on our vision for broad performance management deployments, touching on all aspects of the enterprise."

Gartner defines visionaries as vendors that have a strong vision for delivering a CPM suite. They are distinguished by the openness and flexibility of their application architectures, and they offer depth of functionality in the areas they address, but they may have gaps relative to the broadest functionality requirements. A visionary vendor is a market thought-leader and innovator; however it may have yet to achieve sufficient scale, or there may be concerns about its capability to grow and provide consistent execution.
