$1 MILLION IN NEW DIRECTED SOUND PRODUCT ORDERS
Company at $3 Million in Orders for Quarter and
Expects Further Orders and Shipments this Month
SAN DIEGO, CA, December 11, 2006 - American Technology Corporation (ATC)(NASDAQ: ATCO), a leading innovator of commercial, government, and military directed sound products and solutions, announced today it has received new orders for its proprietary directed sound products totaling approximately $1 million. The new orders are comprised of ATC’s HSS®, NeoPlanar® and LRAD® products. To date, ATC has received over $3 million in orders it has shipped, or expects to ship this quarter, with further orders and shipments expected this month.
“We are accelerating our revenue growth through more domestic and international sales to commercial companies and defense-related organizations,” remarked Tom Brown, president and chief executive officer of American Technology. “The initiatives to consolidate facilities and restructure management are yielding results as we have significantly decreased our core burn rate. We are also making progress in cutting our product costs, increasing our margins and enhancing product performance.”
Brown concluded, “With over $3 million in orders to date, this first quarter is shaping up to be a good start to our 2007 fiscal year. Later this month, we expect to announce further directed sound product orders and provide additional revenue guidance.”
ATC’s directed sound products and technologies include, LRAD which communicates in excess of 500 meters with authority and high intelligibility through vocal commands and powerful warning tones to influence behavior, gain compliance, and determine intent. ATC’s patent pending technology achieves high intensity 15 – 30º beam directionality with very low power. LRADs are currently deployed in a variety of government, military and commercial applications around the world, including military deployments with the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, and U.S. Navy.
ATC’s proprietary HSS directed sound products place sound where you want it and nowhere else. With the combination of an ultrasonic powered emitter and a proprietary signal processor/amplifier, HSS focuses sound into a tight beam for optimal directionality and intelligibility. Similar to a beam of light, HSS uses ultrasonic energy to “shine” sound on a very specific area. HSS provides extremely accurate control of sound placement for digital signage, paging and announcing systems, tradeshow exhibits and other audio applications.
NeoPlanar is a thin film planar magnetic speaker which features high output with exceptional clarity. NeoPlanar is being offered for a diverse range of applications from military uses and emergency notification to automotive and home theater. NeoPlanar products are installed in arenas, on board U.S. Navy aircraft carriers, in public and corporate venues, and are being utilized for home and outdoor entertainment.
