Oh, I get it now........buyers didn't go out there in force and bid up the prices of properties against the bids of other buyers when properties were scarce, and mortgage companies cut rates regardless of bond-market prices to make the deals work.

You certainly have a good understanding (NOT!!) of what happened to certain real estate market areas in the past five years or so.
