Modoff snips on QCOM / China 3G QCOM looking good, MOT, CELL and RFMD tracking in line Our checks indicate the Qualcomm’s quarter is tracking well. 3G Handset portfolios from leading QCOM ,Samsung and LG, look better than they have in some time and share shifts among handset vendors will likely favor phones with QCOM chips inside. We also think the agreement with MOT may begin as early a Q2CY07 sooner than many expect. China 3G – still coming soon After many years of waiting, China's 3G licensing is probably coming soon. The collective wisdom holds that the most likely timing is March or April of next year. This would be good news for the industry. We review the history and ‘process’ behind the licensing and explain why we think this timing is likely, but by no means guaranteed.
