Gentlemen:

Looking for some feedback on an article appearing in today's EETimes. <http://techweb.cmp.com/eet/news/97/974news/intel.html> The gist is that Intel is shopping around Pentium II's for the set-top box market. There are numerous nuggets relevant to our discussion here. Non-Intel CPUs being potentially better for appliances. WebTV with a hard disk being a competitor for the PC. Etc. Etc.

Either Intel is being totally goofy thinking that OEM's would want an $800 chip in a $300 SKU or this story signals some serious price cutting by Intel at the high end.

What do you think?
