DHSS treatment guidelines (Reuter's 9-29-97) regarding childhood HIV (AIDS) include using Viracept or Norvir PIs. Also, one of Crosson's (Montgomery) comments referred to a high failure rate of PI treatment (Viracept) in patients with "advanced stage of the disease." Clinically, what can any doctor do for a patient with terminal AIDS? I don't know of any medication(s) that will work in such situations (including patients with terminal cancer). This is not a very good reason to downgrade AGPH. Does anybody know where the PLA thread is; I need some excitement?
