As the dollar drops it will be interesting to see if higher commodity prices , (in dollar terms), offset reduced demand leaving the trade gap more or less unchanged?

The experience with energy when prices exceeded $3.00 a gallon for regular unleaded suggests that there is relatively little demand destruction. However, past performance is no guarantee of future results and my crystal ball is out for repair this week.
