(That is always a real-world consideration....)

For example, I've been told that --- adjusted for present day value --- this latest Iraq War has now *exceeded* the total US cost of WW I, the Korean War, and has just *matched* the expense of the Vietnam War.

WW II and our Civil War are still far more expensive conflicts....

(Though the Iraq War has now exceeded the *length of time* that America was officially a combatant in WW II....)
