I'm guessing that the odds of the US pulling a volte face on Pakistan (while the current admin is in office) are vanishingly small.

Too complicated, too many political down-sides for them to admit they got Pak wrong, let them off the hook for their complicity in the rise of the Taliban and in the 9-11 attacks.

(My guess is we will have to wait until after 2008 for that.)
