Too many also conveniently overlook the dire situation in the US around the same time. Still no explanation how between 1989-94 commercial real estate NATIONWIDE in this country lost 60-70% of it's value, residential real estate markets in California and the northeast lost 30% of their value, our banking system was insolvent and credit tighter than at anytime since the depression era at the same time Japan was collapsing and yet no deflation in this country. That was one of two potential 'deflationary moments in this country along with 2001-02 that never materialized IMHO..
