Map Data Utilized to Synchronize Emergency and Natural Disaster Planning and Response

CHICAGO, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, has been selected by the Federal Government to provide extended licensing of map data. State and local governments now have the ability to coordinate preparedness efforts with the Federal Government through the view of a common map.

NAVTEQ provides the U.S. Government with extensive map data for road networks in the United States and Canada, along with Point-of-Interest data that is used in mapping critical infrastructure assets in support of the Department of Homeland Security. The Federal Government's decision to license NAVTEQ data helps federal, state and local governments better synchronize planning and response for emergencies and natural disasters.

"We are pleased to be recognized as an important component in the government's strategy to provide infrastructure information for critical initiatives such as homeland security," commented Roy Kolstad, Vice President and General Manager - Business and Government Solutions, NAVTEQ. "Using consistent and reliable map data across all government levels helps to facilitate coordinated emergency responses throughout the U.S."
