No kris, you can't take this $ 700 Billion out of your short account and spend it like they did with MEW.

but, as I pointed out (a little tongue in cheek admittedly) it can flow straight into the GS (and other Wall Street firms) bottom line, because they are the ones who hold this money (and the ones creating it as well in many cases). It isn't in the little guys short account but it's "real money*" in the brokerage account.

We all know that the FED creates US dollars by printing and the banks do it with fractional reserves and loans, but I haven't seen anyone put up the figures for creating cash out of thin air by short selling even though we all know it happens.

In fact a regular perusal of the Reg SHO list (which only catches the really blatant cases that can't use any of the many excuses the SEC and DTC provide to escape delivery of what they pretended to sell to the unsuspecting public) will demonstrate what is happening every day.

* "real money" - well as real as any other fiat, I am not refering to actual real money, gold and silver.
