Given the lack of feedback on our diets from pregnancy onwards, and our total divorce from a natural form of food, it is doubtful that anyone at all has an optimum diet for more than a small fraction of their lives.

Gulping too many metals, minerals, vitamins and associated impurities is bad, so it's not just a matter of taking lots of supplements. Too much protein isn't good. Not enough selenium is bad. So is too much. Many people have iodine deficiencies these days, albeit not bad enough to get goitre. It's dietary carnage out there.

What's needed is genetic engineering to get rid of junk DNA which causes problems [cystic fibrosis for a start, but also all sorts of bad DNA which doesn't have countervailing benefits] and plug in hot-stuff DNA which gives high intelligence. That's been going on for thousands of years, but the natural process is slow and hideously cruel.

There's a huge business opportunity for the people who can do it. Women don't want to have random suffering and defects in their offspring. Neither do fathers. They want them to do well at learning and thinking without a lot of hard slog.

It would be great to be more intelligent. Not many people want to be more stupid than they are. Ignorance and stupidity are very much things which most of us prefer to avoid in ourselves [and in other people]. Unfortunately, we are all stuck with a LOT of both.
