Strange behaviour of company directors - cashing out instead of in.

Two of the company's directors have exercised options over the last couple of days. Options which are just in the money and which are not maturing until sometimes 2015-2016. Not the most common way to go about doing one's personal financial planning.

Robert Friel exercised 10.000 options to buy the same number of shares for a total cost of abt. 83.600 USD. No shares sold (yet).

Anthony Wild really got wild yesterday, when he exercised 8.948 options to buy shares at an average price of 9.95 (!). The most expensive shares (1.900 of them) were priced at 10.50 (!!!). After this transaction his cash has been reduced by abt. 89.000 USD.

Does this makes any sense to anyone (apart from the gentlemen directly involved in these transactions)?

A subtle but expensive message perhaps, that we shall not expect any buy-outs or buy-ins over the next couple of weeks. At least not something the board is aware of.
