McCain is adding troops and if he succeeds in bringing the Iraq situation under control, then McCain becomes a shoo-in for President, not just the Republican ticket

I think McCain made that suggestion because he was sure that there are no troops to be sent. But Dumbyass is going to actually do something like that - send another 20k or 40k or 50k troops or whatever. Of course, that stupid gamble will fail too, and the sh** will be on both McCain's and Dumbyass' faces..
