Dems are populists on economics, the problem is the GOP has so far been able to win on the "he'll raise your taxes" charge. That may not work as much as in the past because Bush has run up such huge reckless deficits, but we can't afford national health care or anything else unless we raise taxes. Bush has bankrupted the system. On purpose probably.

Dems are for raising taxes on the rich and big corporations. So obviously they're not beholden to the big money donors.
