an objective way to rate Physicians

I doubt that this is possible. MM mentioned below the Connolly service... dunno. A while ago they rated me as one of the best doctors in New York... which was kinda cool, except that I had no idea on what they based their ratings -- so, it wasn't all that hard not to let this go to my head... :)

An old family doc friend of mine used to say: - What is the definition of good medical care? Answer: A satisfied patient.

I've been thinking about this answer for many years. It's sort of cynical, and yet true - at the same time. Why cynical? Because you'll never know whether the Doc you admire is really so great, or he's just a good salesman.

Probably, the best bet is first to cover the basics - make sure the Doc is Board Certified in his field. This will indicate that - at least - he was willing and able to do some homework. After that, look for the right personal chemistry, for ability to offer individualized attention, and so on.

Good luck!... :)
