>>It is clear that BC gov't only wants big mining and oil and gas companies but not an exploration industry that feeds them.

A very interesting comment. If true it would affect my investment strategy. Would you please provide evidence ?

First, the forestry industry in BC is a classic example of oligopoly that has persisted for decades. The favorable statutes and policy speak for themselves.

Second, this is my interpretation based upon the fact that numerous mineral exploration programs in 2006 were either cancelled or stopped in progress by native and special interest groups. Personal communication with some on the companies involved indicate those companies will be looking for projects elsewhere and spending their money elsewhere as they don't believe it is in their (shareholders) best interests to waste capital and time in the courts. For example, oil and gas companies hand over extortion fees of $50,000 to $100,000 per oil and gas well drilled to native and special interest groups. These same groups now ask junior mining exploration companies for the same fees per drill hole for minerals, plus 50% carried interest. Marcos, are the large logging companies paying extortion fees now too? Interestingly, large mining houses are mute. Is it because of the "synergies" they see between gov't and the big players in forestry industry?
