I'm all for what you said before, i.e. forcing our government to live within its means just like the rest of us.

I can't spend all of the money I make just to prove to my employer that my salary needs to be raised, for instance. How come the federal bureaucracy rewards that?

I can't simply vote for my own raise, then raise my own salary just because I think my employer can afford it. How come our elected officials do that?

I can't simply walk up to a rich man's house with the authorities backing me up, demanding that he pay for whatever I want him to pay for just because he's rich and he can afford it. How come our elected officials do that?

If you want to see true fiscal conservatism, force your government officials to "live within their means" before they raise any tax. Every citizen has to do just that. Every corporation has to do just that, including the Fortune 500.
