!Kung,

Ah, the master of understatement... Kinda the way I looked at them, especially after MZ pointed out that they were done at the highest dosage to date w/ an antisense candidate. MZ does suggest that they might be more efficacious in combo w/ chemo; if these type of results show up in PIIa, they may want to consider doing PIIb/III as combo therapy (either with conventional chemo, or perhaps one of their other cancer anti-sense).
IMO, we're going to see real progress against various cancers when we start using a strategy more similar to the HIV cocktail: hit multiple weakspots with multiple therapeutics. This has been tried w/ conventional chemo regimens, but unfortunately the toxicity often also knocks the patient's own immune system before it finishes off the cancer, many of the agents have similar, broad anti-tumor actions, and the cancer rapidly adapts to the assault. Perhaps w/ multiple, more specific approaches we can prevent the cancer from escaping, and leave the patient's immune system intact (and perhaps activated w/ a cancer vaccine) to make sure the job is completed.
Hey, its a slow night on the thread, so I thought I'd try prophecy.
