I agree that cutting taxes has a stimulative affect on the economy, because it goes straight to increasing aggregate demand. However, if there isn't a corresponding decrease in spending, then you are stimulating today's economy by borrowing from the future, and all responsible people are really loathe to do that.

The best alternative is to simultaneously cut taxes and decrease spending to the point you balance the budget.
