Good question tyke: Have you ever heard of the Dark Ages or the age of enlightenment?

For hundreds of years questioning the church was called heresy and punishable by torture and death. Science of course questions all dogma.

Coprinicus and Gallilao both of whom maintained the earth revolved around the sun had to recant their claims and were almost executed. One of them lived the rest of his life in house arrest.

The church shut down all questioning and thinking until the age of enlightenment. Remember Adam got in trouble for eating an apple from the "tree of knowledge"!

Islam is even worse.

I think the asians are goingto zip right past us because their spiritual beliefs are much more thoughtful and much less dogmatic. Buddism and Hinduism, Taoism and Confuscionism all have as their foundation the development of the mind. To learn to see what is not evident.

Neither christianity or Islam approach spirituality that way. In their worlds you just believe whatever the prophet or god says.
