China to buy four Westinghouse turbines for four nuclear plants
China is no longer a prediction; it is a fact. China is now the world’s second-largest economy and the largest holder of the U.S. dollar. In an effort to cope with its growing energy demands, it is building 28 nuclear plants.

In an effort to spend its 700 billion in U.S. dollars it will buy American, though in reality, Toshibe Corp. owns Westinghouse Electric Co. Welcome to globalization, baby!

This is good news for engineers, however, as Westinghouse said the deal will create or sustain roughly 5,000 design, engineering and manufacturing jobs in the United States.

The real story here is the fuel needed to power these plants: uranium, which is up some 800% over the past three years.

Sincerely,
Christian DeHaemer
