It's hard to gauge what the average joe over there really wants as far as democracy goes. I don't think at this stage of the game that that should be our concern. What we need to do is either send a hell of a lot more troops over there or focus intensively on there military and police forces.

I personally think they should consider drafting the bastards over there and cutting them off from there civilian population for the 4 years that they serve. I think that would do a lot towards taking the warlords or whatever you want to call them out of the military and police forces. It would take that level of patrotism from the iraqies themselves to make this work for them.

I also think that at this stage of the game, lets stop pretending they have an elected government that is trying to bring the country together. They (we) should dissolve that government, become there government and then slowly build an iraqi government that actually works. The only thing you can do then is give it a lot of time to the point where living peacefully among the different factions becomes appealing, prosperous and a part of there culture.
