... then, if the small bowl is "about right" for you, you can dump the small bowl back into the large, and it should dilute enough to "about right" for everyone else. <g>

I do a similar relative test with my Habanero cheesecake batter. I dab a small bit with my left hand little finger, and if I notice at least a tiny, little chile effect with it, then it means it's a good enough heat for everyone else.

I once made the mistake of using "my personal" recommended dose of Habanero rather than a recommended dose for "regular" people ... meaning, about 3 Habs instead of 1. Then presented the cheesecake to my Mom for Mother's Day. It's a darn lucky thing that moms can be specially forgiving of their son, when he unintentionally sears off half her tongue with an organic blowtorch.
