Do you think it will take that long for the discussions to take place? The President right now is not evidencing awareness of the severity of the political winds swirling around him. He may well claim that as Commander in Chief he marches to a different drummer than do congressional republicans, and he need not worry about tawdry political concerns.....but they do. I don't think their tolerance will be very great. The President's January speech about the change in course in Iraq will need to be very effective or the discussions you forecast could come much sooner than the Summer.
