Pinetree is as far as I can judge a unique situation. They can sell new stock at maybe an 80% premium over their current NAV, then buy more stock in small uranium companies or just divide up the excess between the managers, should they choose to do so. It probably is not enough capital inflow to ratchet uranium stocks in general up by very much, but it does provide upward pressure. It also provides great temptations for various kinds of fraud. And in fact there is an investigation of Pinetree under way right now, although I know of no reason to suspect anything improper. Dines told all his people to back up the truck and buy Pinetree when it dropped on the news.

I would not own Pinetree myself. Why not just follow what they are buying and buy it instead of buying Pinetree and paying almost double for the same thing?
