<Some people feel insulted by these facts, but I do not know why facts should trouble people.>

Probably because they aren't facts... they are your opinion.

<None of what he was supposed to have said was original or remarkable>

At the time the idea of forgiving your enemies was quite remarkable, and in fact would be remarkable in practice today. Sadly Christian knights and solderiers somehow got the idea that killing would save them from their sins... hmmm, did the Catholic Church ever say they were sorry for that bit of mis- teaching?

<Much of what was alleged of Jesus was loathsome>

Alledged would be the key word... since the whole bible is piecemeal interpretation by who knows who, it's kind of futile to worry about blaming Jesus for nasty little quotes attibuted to him.

<Seneca and other writers are much more instructive than the sloppy and disjointed writings of the bible.>

Oh, I agree that there are TONS of writings more instructive than the bible. No surprise there.

As I said before, if you look at the OT vs the NT, there is a remarkable difference in tone and teaching.

You know some people have a real problem with the fact that there was probably this guy (Jesus) that was a pretty special person... so special that his legend has morphed him into one of the most famous figures on the planet... go figure...
